When and what will I present?

To see when your presentation is scheduled, please go to the online programme and use the search engine and look for your abstract by typing its title (full or part). Once you find your abstract, click on it and you will access a page showing the date, room and timing of the session in which you will take part.

As an author participating in an E-communication session, you will present

  1. a paper Poster (portrait-shape, size 90 cm width x 120 cm high)
  2. and an E-communication, including up to three slides summarizing your research

Guidelines for preparation of the paper poster for E-communication sessions

Your abstract has been selected for an E-communication session. You will therefore have to prepare a paper poster, in addition to your E-communication (detailed in the next section). Please read the following guidelines carefully.

1. Maximum available area for displaying your poster:  90 cm width x 120 cm high (portrait-shape)

2. We suggest that you design your poster layout with the following sections:

  • Title, authors, address (at upper edge, across the width of the whole poster)
  • Aims
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

3. The title should be emphasised by the use of bold-face type or similar lettering. The text should be printed in the same kind of lettering, large enough to be read comfortably from a distance of 2-3 metres

4. The text should be kept to a minimum and should be broken up by the inclusion of figures, drawings and/or photos. The use of colour makes the poster more effective and attractive

5. Material for displaying your poster on the poster board will be supplied onsite by the organisers

6. Please be in the session room at the latest 10 minutes before its stat, in order to display your poster. Panels will indicate where to display your poster. The session will last two hours and during the first part, two chairs will circulate from poster to poster to discuss them directly with the authors and to lead discussions with the other authors in the session and with delegates. During the second part of the session, the chairs will lead a discussion on specific topics.

What are E-communications and who should create one?

An E-communication is similar to a web page, offering the flexibility to include text, images, videos, animations and more information than in classical presentations. The electronic format is ideal for creating a dynamic presentation and offers an extended visibility to the work of authors who have had an abstract accepted for the ERS Congress.

E-communications can be viewed at any time during the Congress using one of the computers in the E-communication Area located in Hall 3. They offer a unique opportunity to share ideas, post comments and initiate online discussions with authors and other delegates. Note that access to the E-communications is restricted to registered participants only.

Any Congress participant can comment on E-communications through the Chat forum available on the web platform. Authors can directly interact with delegates and answer questions both during and after the Congress, to enable ongoing scientific discussions.
All communications accessible from the E-communication Area are scheduled in the Scientific Programme and will be presented during the Congress.

E-communications are not regarded as publications. They are not considered as pre-publication, nor are they peer-reviewed or citable. They cannot be copied, printed or e-mailed.

All authors of accepted abstracts will have the possibility to create an electronic format of their work. Although the creation is mandatory for authors presenting in E-Communication sessions (including the preparation of up to three slides summarizing the research), authors of abstracts accepted for Thematic Poster and Oral Presentation will be offered the opportunity to produce, in addition to their presentation, an E-communication, in order to increase the visibility of their work and enable delegates to view their poster throughout the Congress outside their official scheduled session.

During E-communication sessions, a paper poster (to be provided by the authors) will be displayed around the room, and will be manned by the authors for the first hour. During the second hour, the chairs will lead a general discussion of specific issues related to the session.

Detailed instructions on how to create your E-communication will be sent to you by the end of July.
